Let's give a big, Bruin welcome to Varsity Head Coach Ryan Wallace, who will be relocating soon from Denver, Colorado! Coach Wallace was invited to Louisville recently by the Coach Search Committee, as a guest of the Boosters. He interviewed with Dr Jury and Chris Kinney. Board members were given the opportunity to meet and interview Coach Wallace at a dinner, graciously hosted by Jon and Denise Seiz. Coach Wallace received unanimous approval from all parties! Ryan Wallace comes to Louisville as an employee of Ballard High School, and will also assume the responsibilities of Head Coach, in charge of managing and directing our boys' Lacrosse program.
Many, thanks and congratulations to Coach Search Committee Chair Jeff Spielberg and his Co-Chair Jon Seiz on their successful efforts to find a qualified candidate for both Ballard Lacrosse and Ballard High School! These gentlemen worked countless hours on this project, reviewing and researching more candidates than you can possibly imagine! Thanks also to Mike & Angie Staub and Jeff, for helping the Boosters with the hotel & flight arrangements for Ryan's interview trip to Louisville.
Finally, many thanks to Dr. Jury! He is giving our boys the opportunity to train under an excellent coach. The Boosters could not have managed a package to encourage this coach to move to Louisville without Dr. Jury's offer of full time employment at Ballard High School.

Head Coach Ryan Wallace is 26 years old. Coach Wallace's family includes his mother & stepfather, residing in Kansas City and a brother who lives in San Francisco. He received a B.S. in Environmental Studies, Community Development from the University of Kansas, where he attended on a merit-based scholarship. He recently moved from Great Britain to Denver, where he has been working for a friend's company while pursuing Lacrosse career opportunities in the US. Why a high school coach? He enjoys working with young people, and feels this position will be a stepping stone toward his long-term goal of working with Lacrosse on the national level. Why Louisville? Coach Wallace sees great opportunity in states like Kentucky and Tennessee, where Lacrosse is growing so rapidly. He is looking forward to teaching, coaching and mentoring our boys. His primary goals for the Team are:
1.) to improve Ballard's overall ranking
2.) to manage additional field time for the underclassmen, by seeking more games and possibly adding a second JV or Freshman team, and
3.) to encourage & assist our boys in the pursuit of Lacrosse opportunities at the college level.
Coach Wallace's first order of business will be to begin preparing the boys for the 7 on 7 Fall Brawl. Interested players should continue to contact me and I will give the list to Coach Wallace, who will be assigning Teams. Until the Coach's arrival in Louisville, seniors will continue to lead conditioning on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ballard.
