Players have been conditioning and practicing for a few weeks. New players are learning to catch and throw the ball. Seasoned players have been working on ground balls and shooting. Everyone has been running. The coming week will hold much of the same. Conditioning on Tues/Thurs, led by seniors.
The fall general membership meeting will take place on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 at 7:30 PM, in Ballard's Large Cafeteria. This meeting is for parents and players. We have an abundance of soccer players on this year's team. I'm delaying the start of Monday's meeting, hoping they have time to reach the meeting after their 5:30 game in J-Town. I've promised Mr. Gudgel we'll be out by 8:30, so this meeting will move rapidly! I encourage everyone to come out and meet our new Head Coach! He's anxious to meet all of you and start working with the boys!
Every player should download the player information sheet and bring or send to this meeting, so Coach Wallace can start the process of getting to know his Team! (If you are a new player, please fill out 2 copies of this form so that the Boosters have your info also-the 2nd copy only needs the top filled out for our records.) Any returning players that have extra equipment that they can part with (as a loan or at a special price) please bring it to the meeting. We want the new players to be able to suit-up at without breaking the bank!
 NEW PLAYERS!!!!!
We had a few disappointed boys who came to practice on Thursday. Please understand that players who do not hold US Lacrosse membership can not practice with the Team! This is a Ballard rule. This is a requirement of every Lacrosse organization and event in the country including every tournament, in-door and out door game and practice your son participates in! It is our only form of insurance. Our organization has been burned by this before, with an un-insured player injured at Ballard. If anyone doubts the value of this insurance just ask the Diemer's, this insurance picked up everything their primary insurance company didn't cover during their son's ACL reconstruction surgery and re-hab, including deductibles and co-pays.
Many thanks to John Haselden, who took these boys to another Ballard field and tossed the ball with them!

It costs $35 to join US Lacrosse. You can call 410-235-6882 OR go to

click on become a member and proceed.
Please e-mail me with your US Lacrosse number by Tuesday!
New players should probably go ahead and purchase a stick and helmet. The helmet is standard -white with a burgundy bill-(Ballard helmet decals are supplied by the boosters,) but you do not need to spend money on an expensive stick! If you have shoulder pads, chest pads, arm guards from another sport, you can use these in the fall. You may want to purchase a pair of football or Lacrosse cleats. The stores specializing in Lacrosse equipment in Louisville is Stickhead, located in Middletown, at the corner of Shelbyville Road and Blankenbaker Parkway, also Soccer Plus on St. Matthews Avenue just north of Shelbyville Road has a selection of LAX approriate shoes and other equipment and Dicks Sporting goods has a section for LAX as well and one of their guys is a Ballard LAX grad. There are many on-line suppliers that may save you money. Try googling lacrosse equipment , or www.lax.com
